As Founder of League Cultural Diplomacy I was proud to be a delegate at the South Australian Trade Mission to South East Asia last week, helping to open the doors for trade between Australia and Vietnam.
During this time I had the honour to meet with Hieu Van Le, Governor of South Australia, and discuss the importance of fostering people-to-people links across borders. I also met Premier Jay Weatherill and we talked about how South Australia can increase sales of cultural and creative goods in the region. I had enlightening discussions with Sir Angus Houston, Former Chief of the Australian Defence Force about opportunities in the Defence Diplomacy fields and with Martin Hamilton-Smith, Minister for Trade & Investment, about Australian involvement in the Vietnamese Education Industry. I also managed to catch up with Karen Lanyon, Consul General of the Australian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City about the potential for Fashion Diplomacy events to help foster relationships between Australia and Vietnam.
I would very much like to thank all of those involved in the organisation of the mission and congratulate them for the achievements and good international relationships that will stem from the Mission.
